2012 will be even more exciting

December 1, 2011

We always have something exciting going on in our family. John and I say that no matter what we’re up to, it’s always an adventure (which led to this blog name).

So here’s our next big adventure: We’re expecting our second child in May! We’re pretty excited to meet this one and have another bundle of fun to teach and love.

Our family and friends have asked us several questions about this pregnancy. If you have another question, please leave it in a comment and we’ll try to answer it.

New Baby FAQs

Q: Will you find out if it’s a boy or a girl?
A: No, we like the surprise.

Q: How are you feeling?
A: I’m through the end of my first trimester and feeling as well and almost as energetic as pre-pregnancy. An ultrasound shows that the baby looks healthy!

Q: How old will Little D be when this one’s born?

A: He’ll be two weeks short of two years old. (That’s exactly the same amount apart as one of my sisters and I are, so it helps me better imagine what it’ll be like.)

Q: What does this mean for your overseas plans? Weren’t you planning to be hiking in the Papua New Guinea jungle next spring?
A: We won’t be able to go to the training in Papua New Guinea in 2012. This is due to malaria risks for pregnant women, unborn babies, and newborns. It’s also very physically demanding. However, the Solomon Islands director has said we can go to the Solomons first and get the other training later. So, we’ve applied for visas to the Solomons and hope to go there for a few months in spring 2012 before the baby is born. Our applications are being processed in the capital city of the Solomons, so we’re just waiting to hear back when our permits are ready.

Q: How can we pray?
A: Thanks for asking! We ask for your prayers for a few things:
*That God will clearly open the door for us to go to the Solomons in spring 2012 if He wills, and that He will clearly close the doors for us if He doesn’t want us there yet.
*That, if we are overseas this spring, God guides us in the decision of whether to have the baby in Australia or return to the U.S.
*That God will protect this baby, wherever we are.
*Praise God that he is in control of our family’s timeline!
*Praise God that the baby is growing well!

Congratulations! I’m so excited for you guys! But I am also pretty sad that you won’t be at POC with me. You all are so fun!
