paperwork is done (enough)!

December 23, 2011

We just got an email from the director in Solomons:

Today I received Permission to Enter letters for the Havengas. The actual [residence] permits will probably be issued after they enter the country but these letters allow them to come.

Praise the Lord for this significant step for the Havengas.

This means we can buy plane tickets. We hope to go over there mid-January.

We mailed our paperwork to Solomons on October 26, and it arrived there on November 20. We hadn’t expected to get permits before the New Year, particularly because so many people who work in government offices go back to their hometowns, which are often on faraway islands, for vacation sometime between November and January. The director called it “rather astounding, actually” that all of the permit applications he submitted were granted so quickly. It only took about a month to process them, even over the holidays.

We’re excited! And nervous and whatever other adjective you have in mind. Mostly, we’re excited to grasp God’s big hands with our little hands and take what seems to be the next step.
