Exciting weekend getaway for our anniversary!

May 14, 2012

From May 12

As Lori posted yesterday, it’s our anniversary today.  Since she’s such a fantastic wife, here are a few things we did yesterday to celebrate, all in the city near where we’re staying:

  • went on a lunch date Friday to a little sandwich cafe
  • had frozen yogurt at a new “make-your-own frozen yogurt sundae” place
  • walked around the town square
  • walked to a nearby overnight resort

We spent the night at the resort, with room service, an in-room jacuzzi, windows overlooking a landscaped courtyard, and staff waiting on us hand and foot.

Our room also had chocolates, flowers, and an anniversary card. Then this morning I fed Lori breakfast in bed.

Pretty fantastic anniversary celebration, eh?  Oh, and did I mention the name of the resort?  It’s the local hospital in Newton, Iowa.

Yup, that’s right. Our new little baby boy was born on May 11, shortly before 7pm!

Our son was born on our 5 year anniversary. You’ll forever be going to Chuck E. Cheese’s for your anniversary! Well, maybe being missionaries will save you from that experience 😉 And hey, sharing an anniversary/birthday is just one less date to remember, right?!?

    So happy for you!
