October Translation Meeting

November 11, 2015

[I wrote this on October 15 but couldn’t post it then due to our intermittent internet connection.]

Yesterday was the day for the translation meeting we wrote about in our last newsletter, and thanks for your prayers!  The meeting went quite well, and was much better attended than the last two meeting attempts. One previously scheduled meeting was canceled due to a death in a nearby village, and then the rescheduled date ended up conflicting with several previously planned events.

Praise God for many people joining this meeting and for a good representation from area villages.

While waiting for canoes to show up from different villages, people reviewed previously translated material and discussed potential edits.

The people who gathered chose new translation committee members and made good progress in figuring out some better methods to make decisions about the translation project.  I also shared about the translation process and how the committee’s work during these stages will lay a good foundation for the work to progress smoothly.

Please pray for the new translation committee members – that they would take their new roles seriously and help the work proceed.  Pray for them as they take what they learned back to their respective communities – that others would get excited about God’s Word and this work to make it more accessible to people on Kolombangara.
